🔍 Why we like it:

  1. From a handful of tools to a complete business suit

Apella first started its operations in the United States, helping companies gather information and refine their technology. Now, they have successfully partnered with 10 hospitals and are determined to increase that number by the second half of next year. “The technology can capture data that is reliable, unbiased, and increases in value over time”, said investor Justin Klein.

  2. New funding leads to new finding

Apella raised $21 million in Series A funding led by Casdin Capital. The injection of new funding will help the company reach out to more hospitals and continue developing new tools and technologies, but the majority will be spent on growing and improving the team. Currently, they are a team of around 20, but are expected to triple by the end of the year.

  3. Surgery Enters a New Era

From minimally invasive solutions to advanced surgical robotics, we’ve seen huge advancements in the surgical space. However, there’s still a lot to improve in the operation room. Apella is focused on building a tool that allows surgeons to collect and analyze new data, which can help improve the quality of surgical care.
